Help 2 Bali: a collective Australian/Dutch/Balinese united team

When after the summer months of 2020 it had been communicated officially that Bali would not be re-opened for international tourism on September 11th as announced, alarm bells started ringing everywhere. This led to the formation of the now well-organized Australian/Dutch/Balinese network Help 2 Bali.

It had been inspired by similar initiatives of previous relief efforts, launched from the Netherlands last year.

The beating hearts of Help 2 Bali are actually located in the town of Sanur in the southern part of Bali and also in the town of Cairns in the eastern part of Australia. From a distance there also still is some support of its Dutch initiators as well. Among other things, with a number of volunteers they have united themselves to take care of the fundraising for the distribution of food packages in the inlands of Bali where the food shortage is at its highest. They also try to ensure that unemployed Balinese people that used to work in tourism sector will be involved as much as possible.

Home base on Bali : The local team has two working locations

With many thanks and support from the Christian Society of the Roh Kudus Cathedral in Denpasar, the Help 2 Bali team temporarily had a storage and work space with them in the cathedral’s catacomb.

In the meantime, an alternative space had been found for this at a plant in Sanur, as the church does not officially lend itself to this. A big hotel resort along the Sanur beach that is currently closed and undergoing maintenance and renovation, is temporary providing office and meeting space for the Help 2 Bali project and team.

In the Netherlands until 30th of April 2021 and in Australia from the 1st of January until further notice – but at least until 31st of December 2021 – various fundraising and charity actions have been and will be set up through (social) media campaigns and personal initiatives.

Meanwhile, on Bali, all the volunteer team members of Help 2 Bali are working very hard to continue  its collective platform of distributing food packages to the inner countries and create more local economic activity and employment.

With your support, the team can directly feed many families !
